Sterling Silver is a mixture of pure silver and another metal, usually copper. The resulting alloy gives the silver strength. The standard is at least 92.5% silver, hence the .925 stamp you see on most sterling silver items.
What is 14kt Gold-Filled?
14k Gold-Filled Jewellery is the affordable solution to real gold. 14k gold-filled is composed of a solid layer of gold bonded with heat and pressure over a base metal such as silver, brass or copper. The finished product has a surface layer of gold which is very thick and considered a life-time product.
Gold-filled jewellery has more than a hundred times the amount of gold than gold plated jewellery.
It is tarnish-resistant like solid 14 karat gold and is safe for most people with sensitive skin.
Gold-filled is 20% gold.
How do I care for my SALT jewellery?
Please handle your SALT jewellery with love and care. Keep in your SALT Jewellery Pouch when not wearing to ensure their original condition.
Sterling silver jewellery can be cleaned and polished using a silver polishing cloth.
Gold-filled jewellery is better cared for using a jewellery cloth but we also recommend ‘Marble Paste’.
Our Semi-Precious and Swarovski Jewellery can also be cleaned using warm soapy water and a jewellery cloth.
